The architecture of Beacon Island draws upon the romantic character of the American South, with the vernacular of southern, coastal classical and French styles that incorporate large, deep porches and balconies, simple geometric massing and vertically-proportioned elements.
To ensure the highest quality and a proper mixture of residential components in the Southern Coastal Village theme, architectural controls have been developed according to the chosen colonial, coastal Carolina and Georgia architectural style.
Beacon Island is envisioned as a pedestrian, walkable village where streets, sidewalks, trails and boardwalk bring every element of the Island together, while creating a variety of experiences and a comfortable environment for interaction between the public and private realm.
Landscaping will provide a connective element throughout the Island. Charming, formal gardens are encouraged to enhance the public experience and to separate the private zone. Each Builder Reserve except single family shall include a gazebo or other similar architectural folly that creates visual interest, promotes interaction among residents and is accessible from the boardwalk promenade and inner trails that meander throughout the Island. |
